Situational Awareness Test & Training
Review Your Rounds
Recent History
📋 Detailed Instructions
This Cognitive Train app uses three task families that mirror a common human-factors framework for situation awareness: noticing relevant elements, understanding what the combined cues mean, and anticipating how the situation may develop.
Perception rounds
A real-world street, cafe, or train-platform scene appears briefly with people, exits, objects, a clock, and sometimes a hazard. After it disappears, answer one question about what was present. The scene is removed before the question so you must form a usable snapshot rather than search the display after seeing the prompt.
Comprehension rounds
Four sectors show three related status cues. Your task is to integrate those cues and identify the sector that needs attention first. A single mild cue is usually less important than several cues pointing in the same direction.
Projection rounds
Objects appear on a 5×5 grid with movement directions. Questions ask you to predict a future position or determine which object reaches the edge first if the movement continues unchanged.
Test and Training
Test mode does not reveal answer correctness during the run and balances the three task families across the selected session length. Training mode gives immediate feedback, shows the scene again after each response, and increases the chance that later rounds target the skill area with the highest current error rate.
Difficulty
Difficulty changes how long the scene stays visible and, in some task types, how much information must be integrated. Mixed sessions rotate through Easy, Standard, and Hard rounds.
Scoring
Overall Accuracy is the percentage of rounds answered correctly. Perception, Comprehension, and Projection are also scored separately. Average Response measures answer time only after the question appears, so the fixed observation period is not included.
Keyboard controls
Press 1–4 to choose an answer. In Training mode, press Enter or Space after feedback to continue. If the browser tab is hidden during an active session, the scene and timers pause until you return and press Resume.
