Each item shows three clue words. Find one answer word that forms a familiar compound word or phrase with all three clues.
The answer can come before some clues and after others. For example, pine / sauce / pie → apple: pineapple, applesauce, apple pie.
You can make repeated guesses. A wrong guess does not end the item.
Skip ends the current item. If the timer reaches zero, the item is recorded as timed out.
Test and Practice
Test defaults to 30 seconds per item, no hints, and answers shown at the end.
Practice defaults to no time limit, letter count plus an optional first-letter hint, and answers shown after each item.
Advanced Settings can change those defaults before the session starts.
Difficulty and question selection
The bank contains 260 compound remote-associate items divided into three relative difficulty bands. Published-difficulty items anchor the Medium and Hard pools, while additional compound items are placed conservatively by accessibility.
Mixed uses an easy-to-hard progression with more accessible items first and the hardest source-rated items later.
Question selection rotates toward items you have seen least recently, reducing immediate repeats between sessions.
The selector also avoids answer/cue leakage inside a session whenever possible.
Scoring and review
Each solved item earns one point. Results show your raw score, accuracy, timed-out items, skipped items, and average active solve time.
When answers are shown, the app displays all three compounds or phrases so you can see exactly how the connecting word works.
The Item Review includes every question, its answer, all three connections, its outcome, and the solve time or miss status.
Mixed results also show your Easy, Medium, and Hard scores separately.
Recent Results stores the mode, difficulty, question count, timer, hint setting, answer timing, score, accuracy, and average solve time so sessions can be compared fairly.
