What is the Choice Reaction Test?
The Choice Reaction Test measures your ability to quickly identify visual stimuli and select the correct response from multiple options. Unlike simple reaction time tests that only measure speed, this test challenges both your decision-making speed and accuracy under time pressure.
How it works:
Click the test area (or press Space) to begin
Shapes with different colors will appear one at a time
Press the correct key based on what you see
You can use either Arrow keys (←↑↓→) or WASD keys (W=Up, A=Left, S=Down, D=Right)
Respond as quickly and accurately as possible before the stimulus disappears
Press Esc to pause/resume at any time
Test Modes:
Color Mode: Press keys based only on color (ignore shape). Example: Blue = Left/A, Red = Right/D, Green = Up/W, Yellow = Down/S
Shape Mode: Press keys based only on shape (ignore color). Example: Circle = Left/A, Square = Right/D, Triangle = Up/W
Color + Shape Mode: Most challenging! Press keys based on the specific combination of color AND shape. Example: Blue Circle = Left/A, Blue Square = Up/W, Red Circle = Right/D, Red Square = Down/S
Settings:
Total Trials: Choose between 10-100 trials per session
Stimulus Duration: How long each shape stays visible (500-3000ms). Shorter durations increase difficulty
Interval Between: Rest time between trials (800-3000ms)
Scoring:
Each trial tracks whether you pressed the correct key and your reaction time
Faster correct responses indicate better processing speed and decision-making
High accuracy with low reaction times shows excellent selective attention
The test measures both speed (reaction time) and accuracy (correct responses)
What it measures:
Response Selection: Choosing the correct action from multiple options
Selective Attention: Focusing on relevant features while ignoring distractors
Processing Speed: How quickly your brain can identify and respond to stimuli
Cognitive Flexibility: Adapting to different rule sets (color vs shape vs both)
