📘 Detailed Instructions
About this test: The Spatial Span Test is based on the classic Corsi block-tapping task, a widely used measure of visuospatial working memory capacity.
How it works:
A 3×3 grid of blocks is displayed
Blocks will light up one at a time in a specific sequence
After the sequence completes, reproduce it by clicking the blocks in the same order
Training Mode:
Practice at your chosen difficulty level with fixed sequence lengths
Complete a set number of trials (5-20)
Good for building and maintaining spatial memory skills
Assessment Mode:
Measures your actual spatial span capacity
Starts with 3 blocks and increases by 1 after each success
Session ends when you fail once
Your "Spatial Span" score is the longest sequence you successfully recalled
Average adult spatial span is typically 5-7 blocks
Display speed: Controls how fast each block lights up. Faster speeds require quicker encoding of spatial positions.
Tips for success:
Try to visualize the path the sequence creates
Group nearby blocks together as chunks
Use verbal labels (top-left, center, etc.) as memory aids
Practice regularly to expand your spatial memory capacity
