What is Photographic Memory?
Photographic memory (also called eidetic memory) refers to the ability to recall images, sounds, or objects in memory with high precision. While true "photographic" memory is extremely rare, visual memory skills can be improved with practice.
How This Test Works:
- You'll be shown 5 images, one at a time
- Study each image for the selected time period
- After the image disappears, answer 5 questions about specific details
- Questions test your recall of colors, objects, positions, text, and quantities
- Higher difficulties feature more complex scenes with more details to remember
Tips for Better Performance:
- Scan systematically: Move your eyes in a pattern (left to right, top to bottom)
- Focus on unusual details: Colors, text, numbers, and unique objects are often asked about
- Create mental associations: Link details to things you already know
- Verbalize what you see: Saying details in your head helps encode them
- Practice regularly: Visual memory improves with consistent training
Difficulty Levels:
- Easy: Simple scenes with 3-5 distinct objects, obvious colors
- Medium: Moderate complexity, 8-12 objects, some similar items
- Hard: Complex scenes with many details, requires careful scanning
