Each trial shows a word printed in red, blue, green, or yellow ink. Click the button matching the ink color as quickly as you can, ignoring what the word says.
Half of the words are neutral everyday objects; the others carry emotional meaning. The test measures whether emotional words slow you down.
Keyboard shortcuts: press 1 (red), 2 (blue), 3 (green), or 4 (yellow) instead of clicking.
Your scores:
Interference: your average response time on emotional words minus neutral words. A positive number means emotional content pulled your attention away from the task.
Only correct responses count toward the timing averages, so wild guessing does not improve your score.
Word sets:
Negative + Neutral: the classic research design, using moderately negative words like DANGER or FAILURE.
Positive + Neutral: the same design with pleasant words like FRIEND or COMFORT.
All Three: compares both emotional directions against neutral in one session.
