Recognition Accuracy by CT Learning Group

These groups are Cognitive Train learning categories used to organise the guide. They are not DSQ-40 or DMRS scales, and these figures are not scores on any published instrument. They show recognition accuracy only, not which defenses you personally use.

📖 Detailed Instructions

What this test measures: recognition knowledge. Each scenario describes someone handling an uncomfortable thought, feeling or situation, and your task is to identify which defense mechanism the description illustrates. The result reflects how well you can tell mechanisms apart, not which mechanisms you personally use.

Scenario sets: every mechanism has one scenario in Set A, one in Set B and one in Set C. The scenarios never move between sets, so choosing a different set always gives you material you have not seen.

Standard and Hard modes:

Session lengths: one set gives 20 questions in Standard Mode and 30 in Hard Mode. Selecting all three sets gives 60 and 90 respectively.

Tips for the confusable pairs:

The full list of mechanisms, with examples for each, is on the Defense Mechanisms guide.
